LISBON — With open arms and a heavy heart, the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center Board of Education welcomed its newest member T.K. Hiscox during its July meeting held Thursday in the center’s boardroom.

Hiscox, the Lisbon school board president, replaces Gary Peruchetti Jr., who passed away unexpectedly in May. A 1964 graduate of Lisbon High School, Peruchetti served on the CCCTC board for the last 25 years and was serving his seventh term on the Lisbon board, a seat he had held since 1996, when he passed on.

“Mr. Peruchetti served both the students of Lisbon schools and the CCCTC for over 20 years,” CCCTC Assistant Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello said. “He always made every decision with the best interest of students in mind. His presence will be sorely missed.”

Hiscox, who was appointed by the Lisbon school board to serve as its CCCTC representative, was sworn in at the start of the meeting. Corbisello said Hiscox will be a welcomed addition to the board as it continues toward its high goals and adheres to its high standards.

“We welcome Mr. Hiscox to our board of education at CCCTC,” Corbisello said. “He will join a group of individuals who are student-centered and always looking to create opportunities for high schoolers and adult learners.”

In other matters, the board approved several items presented by the treasurer. The board approved three grants — the Perkins Adult grant ($152,111), Perkins Secondary grant ($198,399) and the Public Schools Connectivity grant ($1,800) — agreed to bond five board members and designated Assistant Treasurer Lindsey Toot as an authorized signer for the State Treasury Asset Reserve account, per the participant requirements and accepted financial statements as well as the investment, revenue, cash reconciliation and credit card award reports.

Superintendent Chuck Adkins presented several items for approval. All were approved including the service agreement with the Columbiana County Education Service Center, the hiring of Allan Young as an adult education instructor and Rosa Pritchard as Adult Education Nursing coordinator. The board also approved the employment of Dr. Lee Austin Frederickson as Physician of Record at a cost of $500 for the 2023-2024 school year. Final approval of Board Policy revisions was also passed and a $1,000 donation from the American Society for Metals in Warren to the school’s welding program.
